About Mee

Hi.  My name is Patrick Quinlan.  I am Thee Optimist.

I am very into guessing the future.  I am into technology, weird science, politics and world travel.

I'm also into adventure, peak experiences and human potential.  I have traveled all over the world, and the inside of my own mind, in search of these things.

I write this blog because I am trying to entertain you.  At parties, people often tell me that I am a very funny guy.  Well, after I've had a couple drinks they tell me that.

I hope Thee Optimist is funny sometimes.  I also hope to make it informative and inspiring.

I've been a writer for about 25 years.  I've written a lot of books, mostly thrillers, some under my own name, and many others under various pen names.

I've been an Amazon, iTunes, Los Angeles TimesLondon Times and USA Today bestselling author.  Books I've written have sold hundreds of thousands of copies and been translated into at least ten languages.  Yeah, for real.

A spy novel I wrote under a pen name, which was given away free as part of a promotion, was the most downloaded ebook in the English language on Christmas Day, 2015.

I am the co-author, with legendary movie star Rutger Hauer (Blade RunnerLadyhawkeThe Hitcher) of Rutger’s autobiography, ALL THOSE MOMENTS.

Sometimes Thee Optimist speaks in the third person.  There is a Wikipedia page about him, which suggests that he is noteworthy in some way.  If you choose to vandalize the page, please do so in a spirit of generosity and good humour.

If you enjoy the blog, please let me know.  If you think it sucks, or whatever, please let me know that.

I'd love to discover how to make it better.  Maybe you know how.

  1. I don't remember how I stumbled upon your blog, but I cannot stop reading. Ridiculously entertaining, well written and informative. I want a list of everything you've published. Must have more.
