I've had several people make comments like, "Thank God 2020 is over..., 2021 HAS to be better" or "Well, things can't possible get worse." To which I reply, "Really? Are you shitting me? And what is your statement based on? Things can ALWAYS get worse."
People were getting all excited around New Year's. "2o2o is finally over! That is so yay!" Then 100,000 people proceeded to die in January. Also the Capitol proceeded to get stormed.
Right. So off to a not-so-great start. But isn't it interesting that some people's psychology moves them to erroneously convince themselves that the future JUST HAS TO be better--based on no evidence?
